MOSCOW: The Kremlin said key issues will dominate peace talks on Ukraine this week. Officials will hold the talks in Geneva on Tuesday and Wednesday. Russia, Ukraine, and the United States will attend the meeting. The discussions come amid rising pressure on Kyiv from Washington. Moscow continues to demand major territorial concessions.

Furthermore, the Kremlin said sensitive territorial questions will top the agenda. Russia wants Ukraine to cede the entire Donbas region. Officials described these matters as the main issues in the conflict. They said the talks will cover a broad range of demands. However, sharp differences remain between the sides.

The Kremlin confirmed that Vladimir Medinsky will lead the Russian delegation. He serves as an aide to President Vladimir Putin. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov briefed reporters in Moscow. He said the team will discuss territories and other Russian demands. He stressed that these issues form the core of negotiations.

In addition, military intelligence chief Igor Kostyukov will join the talks. Putin’s special envoy Kirill Dmitriev will attend a separate economic working group. Officials said economic matters will run parallel to political discussions. They aim to address broader concerns linked to the conflict. The outcome of these talks remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump has expressed interest in ending the war. He has called the conflict a senseless bloodbath. However, major disputes persist between Moscow and Kyiv. These include territorial control and the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. The role of Western troops in post-war Ukraine also remains unresolved.
